Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a dedicated space to talk openly and honestly, without judgment. Many of the people I work with are high-functioning on the outside but feel stuck inside…using alcohol, substances, or gambling in ways that no longer feel aligned with who they want to be. Others come in feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or worn down by life transitions that have quietly piled up.
I specialize in working with substance misuse and problem gambling, including people who are questioning their relationship with alcohol or gambling rather than fully identifying with a label. Together, we look at patterns that keep repeating, understand what they’re doing for you, and develop practical ways to respond differently. Therapy isn’t about being told what to do…it’s about gaining clarity, strengthening self-trust, and building changes that actually stick.
Research consistently shows the value of talk therapy. The American Psychiatric Association reports that roughly three out of four people who engage in psychotherapy experience meaningful benefit.
A superbill is provided for out-of-network reimbursement, which you submit directly to your insurance carrier.
Support Session
20-minute sessions, online, video or phone.
At times you might need some extra support between sessions, and I strive to make myself available. Schedule permitting, I offer brief support sessions designed to assist you in critical moments outside of your regularly scheduled sessions. This is for established clients only, and not intended as a substitute for full-length sessions.
I will provide you with a superbill so you can submit out-of-network claims for reimbursement directly to you.
Assessment
Understanding the extent of a potential substance use disorder is an essential first step toward effective treatment and support. I offer a comprehensive assessment utilizing my years of specialty experience to explore substance use patterns in-depth. This process includes tools like the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and the Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST). Additionally, I use DSM-5 criteria to determine whether the substance use disorder is mild, moderate, or severe. This assessment can provide valuable insight for individuals, loved ones, or professionals seeking clarity and guidance for the best possible treatment approach.
Supervision to Clinicians
Supervision is a process where a therapist receives guidance, feedback, and support from a more experienced therapist to improve their skills, maintain professional standards and manage the emotional impact of their work. It is an essential part of ongoing professional development for therapists and is often required for licensure. Supervision allows therapists to receive feedback and guidance on their therapeutic techniques, which can help them be more effective in helping their clients yield better outcomes. Supervision can also provide therapists with a supportive environment in which to process their work’s emotional and psychological impact, which can help maintain their own well-being and prevent burnout. As long as people keep getting older and life continues to be dynamic, I can’t recommend supervision enough. I have found it and continue to find it invaluable as I gain the perspective I ask my patients to consider. I can supervise Master’s Level Social Workers (MSW/LMSWs) and Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) as part of the requirements for advanced licensure in these fields.
